Chinese company ZTE Introduced today the first serial smartphone with a front-facing camera hidden under the screen – Axon 20 5G.
However, apart from the camera, the Axon 20 5G turned out to be a mid-level device, Celebrate reviewers.
The phone is built on a Snapdragon 765G processor, which probably allows it to be only 7.98 mm thick, including a 4220 mAh battery. The screen is a 6.92-inch OLED display with a built-in fingerprint sensor.
The rear camera array includes a 64-megapixel main sensor and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with a 2-megapixel depth sensor and macro sensor. There are options with 6 or 8GB of RAM and 128 or 256GB of storage, and there is a slot for the microSD card.
The 32-megapixel camera under the display is made possible by the use of “high-transparency material that includes new organic and inorganic films” as well as optimized software algorithms to offset the impact on image quality.
At the same time, in live photos of the novelty area of the screen with the camera can be easily discerned, it stands out from the rest of the image.
The Axon 20 5G is available for order in China right now at a price of 2,198 yuan ($320). Open sales will begin on September 10. There is no information yet on a possible release in other countries.
EARLIER, NSW wrote that Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun demonstrated the third generation of the branded subscreen camera which, in his opinion, is “almost perfect.”
The company not only demonstrated a working prototype with a new camera under the display, but also showed how the technology was improved to make it as good as the traditional front-facing camera.
The subscreen camera will be the next breakthrough in the smartphone market. Many companies are now working on improving the cameras built into the display because of the important aesthetic update they bring to smartphones.
Xiaomi developed the first generation of screen camera technology last year, in June 2019. Then they also showed the video of the prototype in action, but a closer inspection showed that the display on the top of the camera is not ideal, and the density of pixels in this area was low.
